Working with Children (Hearing Loss)

Aims:

To learn about working with a child with hearing loss, the affects it has, and how best to support sufferers.

Objectives:

  • Understand hearing loss
  • Exploring hearing impairment culture
  • Develop effective skills to appropriately respond to situations
  • Basic sign language communication

Target Audience:

This course will greatly aid anyone who may have to deal with, or support children with hearing loss. In addition it will develop participants awareness of hearing impairment and related issues.

Commentary:

The course examines the condition of hearing loss, and looks at links to child development. It enables participants to understand issues relating to this condition. The use of case studies enables participants to discuss issues that are relevant to their background and vocational experience.
